British Values

At Copperfield Academy, we are committed to promoting and upholding the British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. These values are integral to our school ethos and underpin all aspects of school life.

Democracy

We encourage our pupils to engage in the democratic process, understanding the importance of their voice and the value of participation. Through Pupil Parliament elections and discussions, children learn how to express their opinions and contribute to decision-making in our school community.

The Rule of Law

We promote respect for the law and the importance of rules in our everyday lives. Our children are taught that laws are designed to protect and support everyone, and we foster an understanding of the consequences of breaking rules, both in school and in society.

Individual Liberty

We value each child’s right to make choices and express their views freely. Our curriculum empowers pupils to make informed decisions and understand the importance of personal responsibility. We celebrate individuality and encourage our students to develop their own identities while respecting others.

Mutual Respect

Respect is a core value at Copperfield Academy. We foster an environment where all members of our school community are treated with kindness and consideration. Our children learn the importance of respecting others’ opinions, beliefs, and backgrounds, creating a harmonious and supportive atmosphere.

Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs

We embrace diversity and promote inclusion among our children. Through education about various cultures, faiths, and beliefs, we encourage understanding and acceptance. Our aim is to prepare our children for life in a multicultural society, fostering a sense of belonging for everyone.

At Copperfield Academy, we strive to instill these British Values in our children, ensuring they become responsible, respectful, and active citizens who contribute positively to society.
