Year 1 News & Information

Year 1 Video

The video below shows how the children will enter the school from Monday 22nd June 2020.

This term in Year 1 we are exploring great and ghastly historical events within the United Kingdom. Over the next term we are trying to answer our essential question:

Do we really learn from the past?

In humanities our biggest focus will be exploring the Great Fire of London. We will be studying the history and impact of the fire, including looking at the concept of ‘cause and consequence’. Linking the topic to social and emotion skills children will also begin to build an empathetic understating of the human dilemmas of the thousands having to watch their houses going up in flames.

You can help your child with this by researching the Great Fire of London, using non-fiction books, online sources or even watching documentaries!
